Citrines

Citrine, like amethyst, is a variety of quartz. It comes in pure yellow to dull yellow, honey, or brownish yellow. Fine colored citrine is not too dark or not too light, it is a warm lemon/honey color. It is 7.0 on the Mohs Scale The citrine stone has the lowest density for stones in this color.

The stone is found in Brazil, United States, Spain, and Russia. In the past, this stone was much valued. Today, you can buy large sizes of citrine for a very reasonable price. Citrine is the November birthstone, along with yellow topaz.

This stone can be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner but should not be left for an extended length of time. Gentle cleaning with jewelry cleaner on a soft swab would be the preferred method.
